Detached house, Glasgow

The owners bought a large, 3 bedroom house in a conservation area which was in a poor state of repair, with the intention of renovating and extending. There was a dark kitchen in a lean-to extension to the rear with a shower room and covered porch. We extended the Kitchen into the covered porch and bathroom and introduced large glazed doors opening onto the garden to fill the kitchen / dining / living room with light. Several rooflights also ensured that this space is light all year round. The result was a transformation from the darkest part of the house, to the sun-filled heart of the home.

All the materials used are in keeping with the existing building, and whilst the look of the building is unchanged, the quality of the interior environment has been significantly enhanced.
